Hi, I’m Marianne, the founder of the Black Agents & Editors’ Group (BAE).
I’m Publishing Director for Square Peg, Vintage (Penguin Random House UK). Previously, I was Commissioning Editor for Ebury Press & Pop Press (Penguin Random House UK), publishing nonfiction books, with a focus on lifestyle and illustrated. Prior to Ebury, I was at Penguin General/Penguin Life, and before that at 4th Estate & William Collins (HarperCollins) after completing my MA. I also undertook a publishing traineeship at writing development agency, Spread the Word, and interned with the Guardian, Granta, The Literary Consultancy and Oneworld.
When I’m not working on books or reading them, I’m usually talking or writing about them. I have given talks about publishing and literature at the University of Oxford, the University of Cambridge, King’s College London, UCL, Loughborough University, the Edinburgh Radical Book Fair, FutureBook, the Frankfurt Book Fair and the Festival of Italian Literature in London, among others.
Before publishing, I worked for companies such as Discovery Channel and D&AD. I have an MA in Publishing from UCL and a BA in Comparative Literature & Film Studies from King’s College London.
