Kadija Sesay FRSA, Hon. FRSL, established SAKS Media in the 90s to publish anthologies by Black British writers and SABLE LitMag. She is currently the Publications Manager for Inscribe, a Black British writer development programme for Peepal Tree Press for whom she has commissioned poetry and fiction anthologies with editors Nii Parkes, Jacob Ross and Kwame Dawes. In Autumn 2022 Inscribe publishes the first anthology of Black British speculative fiction edited by Leone Ross. Kadija edited the first book of plays by women of African and Asian descent, Six Plays by Black and Asian Women Writers, and the first book of critical essays on Black British writers, Write Black, Write British. She has co-edited anthologies for other publishers with novelists Helon Habila (Picador, S.A.) and Courttia Newland (Hamish Hamilton) and co-authored. This is the Canon: Decolonize Your Bookshelf in 50 Books. Kadija is the resident judge for SI Leeds Literary Prize for Black and Asian women writers. She is a Kennedy Fellow, a Kluge Fellow and the co-founder of Mboka Literary Festival in The Gambia.
